Our chimney technicians use closed-circuit cameras so that we are able to show you what the inside of your chimney looks like. Thus , we can show you a “before and after” of your chimney relative to our cleaning/sweeping.

How do you clean [or sweep] a chimney?

SOS-ASAP Chimney Services uses a guaranteed Sweeping Protocol…with no mess. First, we will place tarps on the floor in front of the fireplace and high-traffic areas. The chimney is then cleaned from the bottom, and we work our way up. We use specialized tools, to sweep every component of your chimney— the smoke chamber, firebox, smoke shelf (and damper), and flue liner. It usually takes about 30 – 45 minutes, depending on how much creosote has built up in your chimney and how much time has elapsed between cleanings.The highly recommended yearly inspection will let you know if a cleaning is necessary.

What is Creosote and why is it in the chimney?

Creosote is a natural result from burning wood. It is a combustible deposit originating as condensed wood smoke, including tar, vapors, and other organic compounds. Creosote is highly flammable, and the main goal of chimney cleaning is to remove creosote from the chimney.
